Alex “El Genio” Lucas

Alex “El Genio” Lucas was born on July 17, 1968 in the state of Guerrero. In 1986 his life took a turn when his cousin Amador, who lived in Santa Barbara, California, visited him and invited him to go with him to the United States; and at the age of seventeen he said goodbye to his old life and boarded a bus towards the northern border of Mexico. In the US, he listened to the radio, and one night he heard a commercial in the voice of Elio Gómez, who opened the doors of his school to him. He wrote down the number and a few days later he was enrolled in the International School of Radio Announcers in Oxnard, California. He began to attend classes, although he was on the verge of dropping out halfway through, since according to his teachers, he did not have a good radio voice. Without giving up, Alex decided to dedicate himself to producing commercials. Finally, in 1989 he got his first job in the city of Salinas, California at Radio Tigre. In 1992 he was appointed programming director of Radio Tigre and began to consolidate his career. After Radio Tigre, Alex worked a brief stint in television in Monterey, California. From there he went to the La Buena station and, when the station changed owners, again to Radio Tigre. Later he worked for almost a year at Radio Tricolor. In 2003 he began his great challenge in La Consentida, adopting a unique style that to this day has become his hallmark, rescuing old music and seasoning it with optimism. In 2009 he began a new adventure, a new network called “Ke Padre Radio”, in which to this day he broadcasts his program every morning. After twenty-five years, Alex “El Genio” Lucas has become one of the most popular Spanish-speaking radio hosts in the United States.
